Critic #1: Soobin

Emulation feedback:She liked the circular chart more because it is a lot easier to read and understand than the stacked bar chart. It seems more nicely spread out and fun to look at, which is why it drew her attention to it. Some of the spacing for the words like 60 days and 2-4 days is very crushed, so it can be hard to read the words above it. She doesn't know what Gestation means and looking at my visual language model, I could possible add a note on what that is below the diagram since the model also leaves facts/explanations below each diagram too. She doesn't think I need an actual photograph of a panda, but maybe make it into a silhouette to emulate your model more. For my typography model, she recommended me to stick with having all the graph labels in uppercase and only having the numbers big and bold. The numbers inside of the circles aren’t bolded either in my models, so she would just keep them regular too for my diagrams. She thought my infographic and my color model matches perfectly.

I changed the spacing for 2-4 days so it doesn't look too crushed. And I also changed the gestation to be a more understanding term. I think it will make more sense and less information box. I didn't add a silhouette because I had a lot of silhouette for all of my other parts in my infographic. I had the graph labels in uppercase and I unbold the parts that is not needed. And the sub paragraph is not part of the graph labels, so I didn't change it to uppercase.

Emulation feedback: She got the idea of the infographic rapidly, but she was a little confused for the first one. She preferred the second one because it is more clear. She liked the different colors of green to show the different seasons. To emulate my visual language models, she thought the dashed lines really matches. She suggested me to add more information for the associated part in version 2. In addition, she recommended me have another arc for how long the gestation takes.

I added more information for the associated part for my version 2, in order to make it easier to understand. I also added the arc for how long the gestation takes.

Emulation feedback: She preferred the second one better because it can reflect the seasons. She thought the black dashed lines and banner matches my visual language model. And the colors also matches my color model. She suggested me to maybe combine the 2-4 days within the 60 days sine the 2-4 days arc is too small. She also recommended me to make the circle thicker to make s it more obvious and clear.

I combined the 2-4 days within the 60 days. But I am not sure if it is the right color of the 2-4 days. I also made the circle thicker to make it more obvious.

Emulation feedback: She noticed the circle, and the split the seasons first. She preferred the second one because it is much clear and it likes more like a whole with the summer arc of pregnant period. She recommended me to change the banner because it looks too stand out.And she suggested me to change the inner circle to be more in perfect circle. She also told me to play around with the pregnant period because it doesn't always happen in summer. It can also be in the beginning of the spring or the middle of the spring.

I changed the inner circle to be a more perfect circle and I think it looks more united and aligned. I was thinking of changing the color of the pregnant period to be gradient color but I think it will violate my color model. I also changed the 2-4 days of association position to be in the middle.

Critic #2: ZK

Emulation feedback: The first thing she see is the seasons, and the topic title. She said my infographic really matches my color model, and the dashed line matches my visual language model. She recommended me to change the 2-4 days of association arc color to be more obvious. She preferred the second one because it has more information. She also suggested me to flip the text, and delete the banner because it just  doesn't look very well.

Critic #3: David

Emulation feedback: He preferred the second one because the second one has more information. He suggested me to make the numbers to be more aligned. And maybe open up more spaces for the text. He also wanted me to change the position of the 2-4. Adjust the alignment for the two circles. He wanted me to change the color for the 95-160 days and flip the text too. He said my infographic really matches the color model and visual language model with the dashed line.

revisions:

I didn't change the color of the association days, but I changed the position of the association, and it looks more obvious. I tried to flip the text, but it looks very weird so I didn't change it. I also delete the banner.

I aligned with everything that was being suggested. And I also change the color of 95-160days to be a more obvious color. I didn't flip the text because I tried to flip and it looks weird. So, I kept it the old way.

Second Number Element & Critiques

This display shows the days and season of mating period for giant pandas. And the short arc to shows the very short female and male pandas associated time. Then the white arc to show the pregnant period. And all the descriptions pointing to the arc will help the viewer to understand the graph and the meaning of mating and breeding period for pandas more.

How this element exploits the visual potential of numbers: I used the inner circle to show the difference seasons in one year, and outer circle to reflect the days of mating period, associated period, and pregnant days. In addition, the different colors can also help to show the different time periods.

How this element emulates the models:

To emulate my color model I the different greens for the arcs to show the different periods of time, and for the panda icon. ANd the dashed lines are also in black.

To emulate my visual language model I the dashed lines, and no outlined panda icon.

To emulate my typography model I used all caps for the annotation and title. I also used bolded fonts for the numbers.
