Critic #1: Rebecca

Emulation feedback: She preferred the version 2 because it looks more clear with numbers. She suggested me to put label for the each bamboo shoot's weight might make the graph clear. She thought both of my versions follow my visual language model. She suggested me to make the dashed line to be black color to match more to my color model.

I changed the dashed lines to be black to match more for my color model. And I added the weight of bamboo shoot to make more clarification.

Critic #2: ZK

Emulation feedback: She thought both of my versions match my color model and visual language model. She suggested me to put the label of what individual bamboo shoot's weight would be better. She preferred the version 2 because she could see more numbers and information. She suggested me to put label of 40kg of what kind of food next to the number for version 2. And she also pointed out maybe I could make clear about if the numbers is added together for a panda to eat in one day or if panda eats either of this food in one day.

I added the label of what individual bamboo shoot mean. And it look much more clear. And I also added the information of how much time pandas spend in one day to eat instead of the confusion of what kind of food does panda actually eat.

Critic #3: Yiran Ni

Emulation feedback: She suggested me to maybe change the bamboo shoots to bamboo because many people didn't have the first impression of panda eats bamboo shoots. She preferred the version 2. For the version 1, she suggested me to add 40kg = some quantity of something would make the viewer more clear about the weight. And she thought the icon really matched my visual language model.

I didn't change the bamboo shoots to bamboo because the bamboo is not what panda mostly eat. But I added a label of the icon of bamboo shoot and what it means to my infographic. I also added the 40kg equals to 2/3 weight of giant panda to make people realize more about how much food does panda eats.

Critic #1: Marika

Emulation feedback: She really liked the label of the bamboo shoot.  She pointed out the panda icon matches my visual language model, and the color matches my color model. And she suggested to put the bamboo shoot label at the bottom or upper. And she also pointed out that to make the title higher so it doesn't touch the bamboo shoots. She thought the title is a bit too long, so change it to "Daily food intake" or some shorter ones to be the new title would be better.

I changed the label of bamboo shoot to the bottom of this graph. And I think it looks great and clear. I changed the title to be shorter and it doesn't touch the bamboo shoots anymore. I think the shorter title makes my topic much more clear.

Critic #2: Soobin

Emulation feedback: She likes the new revised version a lot more because it’s easy to see the message that I was trying to convey without taking so much time. Just like my visual language model, she would recommend to write in blocks that surround the 40 kg = 2/3 because it seems very clustered. She also suggested me to make my bamboo shoots fact more straight forward, maybe something like using the icon of the 1 bamboo shoot icon =  400g and then I can use a dashed line connected to it with a block of writing saying “pandas will eat 100 bamboo”. She pointed out that I matches the color model really well. For the text, she recommend me to change 40kg = 2/3 and bamboo shoot = 400g into a smaller font size that is in all caps and then everything else can be in a  smaller font.

I added some dashed lines around my paragraph to make it looks like block of paragraph.I also made the bamboo shoot fact more straight forward with one bamboo shoot equals 400g. And I also changed the text to be smaller for the 40kg = 2/3 and bamboo shoot = 400g. I also changed it to all caps to match my typography well.

First Number Element & Critiques

Critic #3: Nabilla

Emulation feedback: She liked the revised one better because the second one is more informative. She also liked how I bold my numbers, and she also liked the comparison.  She pointed out that it is helpful to have an equivalent sign next to the bamboo shoot. She recommended me to have a graph represent the 2/3 of giant panda. And she thought the alignment for the 40kg and the paragraph under it need to be fixed.

I changed the alignment with the paragraphs. And it looks more united now. I didn't make the picture of 2/3 panda to represent the 40kg is because it looks kinda weird, and I think having a number proportion is enough for the viewers to understand.

revisions:

This display shows the unique food intake habit that panda eats in a day. The first one emphasizes the amount of fresh bamboo shoots that panda eats per day. One bamboo shoots is 400g, and giant panda will eat approximately 100 bamboo shoots per day, which weighs the 2/3 weight of giant panda. This unique habit causes wild pandas hard to find food daily, which is also one of the reasons why giant pandas are so few right now.

How this element exploits the visual potential of numbers:

I used 100 bamboo shoots icons to visually shows how much food panda eats per day. And I also used 40kg bamboo compares to giant panda's own weight to help the viewer to have a better understanding of the meaning of 40kg for giant pandas.

How this element emulates the models:

To emulate my color model I used the same background color from my color model, and I used the different greens from my color models for the banner of the bamboo shoot's tag. I also used the same color black for my text and dashed lines.

To emulate my visual language model I used the bamboo shoot icon and banners in my infographic. In addition, I also used the dashed line to emulate my model.

To emulate my typography model I used the same font from my typography for the little paragraph. In addition, I used the same font and size for the 40kg number display.
